Take a Short City Break Holiday and Not Break the Bank
If your paid holiday time is still months away -- don't panic. You can still take a city break holiday and get a much needed change of scenery in a short amount of time.
What should you look for when you're deciding which city to visit? The first question is how much time do you have? If you only have 2 or 3 days you might want to stay fairly close to home so you don't spend a lot of time getting to your destination. Visiting London is a popular city break holiday option. But it can also be a very expensive holiday. Here are a few ways to save some money while on your trip. If you don't mind some colder weather, visit during the off season of October through March. However, if you want to visit in July or August you'll need to book early since this the busiest holiday season and also the most expensive time. You can buy a prepaid Oyster Card to save on tube and bus rides. This is much cheaper than taking taxi cabs everywhere. Consider self-catering flats or home rentals. If you have large family this can save a lot of money. When you do eat out, many pubs and restaurants offer reduced lunch prices so eat out for lunch and cook or eat a sandwich at your rental for dinner.
What should you do while on your City Break Holiday in London?
If this is your first visit you have to see some of the obvious attractions such as Big Ben, London Bridge, the Tower of London, Buckingham Palace, Westminster Abbey, and Madame Tussauds.
The British Museum is not only a must see but has no entrance fee except for special exhibits. If you're a museum lover, there is also the Natural Museum, Wimbledon museum, National Maritime Museum, London Motor Museum, and many others. If you purchase a London Pass you can then visit over twenty museums in London at no charge.
If you're looking for something a little out of the ordinary, consider taking a “Jack the Ripper Tour”. You can feed your creepy side while learning some macabre London history.
Don't forget to ride a double decker bus while you're in town.
London also boasts many theatres and an exciting night life. So whether you're bringing the whole family, celebrating an anniversary with your spouse, or you're single taking a quick trip with your friends, there will plenty to do here.
Your days will be filled with a wide variety of options when you visit London on your City Break Holiday.
